‘A Home for Every Plantation Worker’ Programme

The development of the plantation community has been a major component in the KVPL management strategy and, in support of this policy, in 2006 KVPL launched a multi-dimensional initiative branded as “A Home for Every Plantation Worker”. It is an on-going project designed to uplift the quality of life of the community within the KVPL plantations in Sri Lanka and has been featured as a benchmark practice, in the booklet “Globally Positioning Sri Lanka’s Best”, released by the Global Compact Sri Lanka Network at the UNGC International Network Conference in Mexico, in October ’07.
Hayleys Toastmasters Club

The new club, currently consisting of 78 ‘speech crafters’ was formally installed as a member club of Toastmasters International (TI) recently, becoming part of the world’s leading communication and leadership-skill building organization.

‘Hayleys Agriculture’ to unify 9 companies under single entity

After over five decades of evolution and growth into business entities that individually play nationally significant roles in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector, nine Hayleys Group companies involved in agriculture have been unified under a single corporate brand ‘Hayleys Agriculture.’

Hayleys PLC has reported turnover of Rs 54.4 billion and profit before tax of Rs 2.1 billion for the 12 months ending 31st March 2011, a year in which strong performances in most business sectors were recorded.

Haycarb posts profit after tax of Rs 574 million for 2010-11

Haycarb PLC, the Hayleys Group’s multi‐national activated carbon manufacturing business and leading activated carbon manufacturer in Sri Lanka, has reported turnover of Rs 6.4 billion and profit before tax of Rs 724 million for the year ending 31st March 2011, a period of challenge as a result of worsening raw material shortages.
Rural Outgrower Programme

Our “Out Grower” program, which started with humble beginnings, today has reached global highest winning the recognition of programs such as USAID.
Forest Replanting Program (FRP)

Twenty-seven estates spanning 13,000 hectares of land, spread over the three agro-climatic regions of Nuwara Eliya/Dickoya and Yatiyantota/Bulathkohupitiya, under almost equal extents of tea and rubber – this constitutes the Kelani Valley Plantations (KVPL) portfolio.

MIT Cargo’s ‘Go Green’ programme comprises four main initiatives, i.e. ‘Recycling of polythene,’ ‘Food waste,’ ‘Paper collection’ and ‘Drive Green’. The Company also plans to introduce several more elements to the programme in the future.
