Hayleys six month PBT Rs 3.6 billion

Hayleys PLC has reported profit before tax of Rs 3.6 billion for the six months ending 30th September 2011; nearly triple that of the first half of 2010-11.
Improved operational indicators in most key sectors of business and substantial capital gains from disposal of investment by some group companies were contributors to this performance.
Haycarb’s 1H sales Rs 3.8 billion, PBT Rs 334 million

Haycarb PLC has reported revenue growth of 21 per cent to Rs 3.8 billion for the six months ending 30th September 2011, with stable demand in global markets and the company’s reliable supply stream of high quality carbons with a product mix of value-added carbons protecting its top line in a period of narrowing margins.
In results filed with the Colombo Stock Exchange, the Hayleys Group’s top notch activated carbon manufacturing business reported profit before tax of Rs 334 million and net profit of Rs 279 million for the six months.
Dipped Products posts improved 1H results

Dipped Products PLC, (DPL) the Hayleys Group’s multi-national gloves manufacturer in Sri Lanka, has posted striking top and bottom line growth for the first half of 2011-12, with higher performance-based growth in manufacturing and capital gains from the sale of shares in the second quarter of the year.
Helped by softening latex prices and strategic initiatives by management, Local Manufacturing improved volumes by 10 per cent and increased FOB turnover by 41 per cent to Rs 4.1 billion, enabling the Hand Protection sector to contribute Rs 7 billion (up 27 per cent) to the Group’s six month turnover of Rs 9.6 billion.
Mohan Pandithage appointed as the Honorary Consul of Mexico to Sri Lanka

Mohan Pandithage, Chairman and Chief Executive of Hayleys PLC, the leading conglomerate in Sri Lanka, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of United Mexican States (Mexico) to Sri Lanka effective 13th September 2011.
This appointment was announced by the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa, and the Minister of External Affairs, Professor G. L. Peiris.
Hayleys sweeps AgBiz awards 2011 with record 10 awards

Companies in the agriculture sector of the Hayleys Group have secured a record 10 awards including four Golds, four Silvers and two Bronze awards at the National Agri Business Awards 2011, underlining the Group’s continuing dominance at this annual event.
In recognition of its significant contributions to the development of the industry in Sri Lanka, Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Ltd., (formerly Hayleys Agro Products Ltd.) which was formed earlier this year by bringing together nine companies in the Hayleys Group involved in Agriculture, was awarded two Golds.
Hayleys acquires leading hotel chain Amaya Resorts and Spas

Strengthens presence in Sri Lankan leisure industry
Hayleys PLC and its group companies acquired Amaya Leisure PLC on September 1st 2011, marking a significant milestone in the development of the conglomerate’s Leisure and Aviation business sector. Amaya Resorts and Spas consist of three properties, namely Amaya Lake in Dambulla, Amaya Hills in Kandy and Langdale by Amaya in Nuwara Eliya.

Hayleys makes strong start to 2011-12 with 1Q PBT of Rs 854 million

Significantly better operational results from most sectors of business have enabled Hayleys PLC to make a vigorous start to FY 2011-12 with striking top and bottom line growth in the first quarter.
In results released to the Colombo Stock Exchange, the Blue chip conglomerate in Sri Lanka reported that profit before tax for the three months ending 30th June 2011 grew 60 per cent to Rs 854 million, while net profit was up 72 per cent to Rs 606 million, half of the preceding full year’s post-tax profit.
Dipped Products surges into 2011-12 with improved growth

Similar contributions from Hand Protection and Plantations in the first quarter of 2011-12 have generated noteworthy growth for Dipped Products PLC, (DPL) the Hayleys Group’s globally-significant rubber gloves manufacturer in Sri Lanka.
Turnover increased by a solid 43 per cent to Rs 4.7 billion in the quarter reviewed, with the Hand Protection segment contributing Rs 3.4 billion following top line growth of 33 per cent, and Plantations, which achieved revenue growth of 62 per cent in the sector’s first quarter, chipping in with Rs 1.5 billion.
Hayleys wins 5 Presidential Export Awards

Nationally significant export contributions by companies in the Hayleys Group have been acknowledged with five awards and a Certificate of Merit at the recently concluded Presidential Export Awards. Three Hayleys Group companies in the agriculture and fibre sectors secured awards, with HJS Condiments ‐‐ the largest Sri Lankan exporter of fruit and vegetables ‐‐ winning three awards for Outstanding Export Performance in the Non–Traditional Product and Services category – Agricultural Products for 2007, 2008 and 2009. Rileys (Pvt) Ltd. ‐‐ one of the world’s largest manufacturers of coir and rubber based floor mats for homes, gardens and industry ‐‐ received a Presidential Export Award for Outstanding Export Performance in the Non–Traditional Products and Services category – Fibre Products Sector for 2007, while Ravi Industries Ltd. ‐‐ one of the region’s largest brush manufacturers ‐‐ was presented with a Presidential Export Award for Outstanding Export Performance in the Non–Traditional Products and Services category – Fibre Products Sector for 2008. The company also received a Certificate of Merit in the same category for 2007.
