Somerset Estate, Talawakelle achieved an all-time record price of Rs. 890 on a BOPSp grade in the Western High Grown category, which was sold at the eighth E-Auctions for the year held on 23 February.

Dipped Products Group Posts Improved Performance

Dipped Products PLC (DPL), Hayleys Group’s hand protection/glove subsidiary, released their financials for the nine months ending December 2019. They reported Rs. 23.2 billion Group turnover, with the Hand Protection sector contributing Rs. 13.4 billion to the top line of the Group, while the Plantation sector recorded a turnover of Rs. 9.9 billion for the period.

Hayleys Best Tea Plucker Competition Sets Pace for Sri Lankan Tea Industry

Talawakelle Tea Estates (TTEL) emerged overall winners at the first ever Hayleys Plantations Best Tea Plucker Competition 2020 Palaniselvi, a Tea Harvester from the Bearwell Estate, sealed the win by plucking 9.7kg of prime tea in just 30 minutes (which amounts to a harvesting rate of 19.4 kg/h) gaining the top score of 88.63% from the judges.
