Teas of different
regions have distinctive characteristics. Our estates span all four
agro-climatic zones: we have teas grown in Nuwara Eliya at an
elevation of 1,500-1,900 metres, renowned for their delicate flavour,
teas grown in Dickoya at an elevation of 1,200-1,500 metres which
are thick and coloury, teas grown in Talawakelle and Nanu Oya
regions in the Dimbulla valley at an elevation of 1,100-1,500 metres,
giving them unique taste and rich colour throughout the year, teas
grown in Yatiyantota- Bulathkohupitiya at an elevation of 200-300
metres, giving a range of thick and coloury to light and thin
liquoring types, and teas grown in Galle and Deniyaya regions at an
elevation of 100-500 metres above sea level, giving coloury,
liquoring types.
KVPL is known for its Oliphant Green Tea. Manufactured at the
highest elevation of 1,950 metre above sea level, the tea fields
mainly of the cultivar 'Camellia Sinensis' benefit from both monsoon
seasons –all of which are factors that help us to produce the finest
green tea from Sri Lanka.
TTEL pioneered the “food factory” concept in the industry. Its Great
Western tea factory was the first to obtain HACCP certification.
Quality assurance and eco friendly practices are pursued in all our
factories.
Amongst TTEL’s portfolio are some of the most highly valued marks
such as ’Holyrood, ‘Great Western’, ‘Somerset’ and ‘Mattakelle’;
whilst ’‘Lovers’ Leap, ‘Mahagastota’, ‘Inverness’, ‘Fordyce’,
‘Ingestre’ and ‘Kelani’ are some of the esteemed marks of KVPL.
Strategic alliances such as of KVPL with Mabroc Teas has brought us
closer to end markets and strengthened our market orientation.
KVPL produces several types of processed rubber:, sole crepe (for
shoe soles and cleaning devices), centrifuged latex (for latex
dipping industries), latex crepe (for adhesives, footwear and the
pharmaceutical industry) and scrap crepe(for tyre re-treading,
flooring and rubber mats).
KVPL is certified under the SGS QUALIFOR Programme as a well managed
plantation, in accordance with Forest Stewardship Council principles
and criteria, in recognition of our eco-friendly practices.
Scenic locations located close to main highways place KVPL at a
distinct advantage to enter into tourism and other real estate
development ventures with suitable joint venture partners.
Horticulture, mineral resources for commercial exploitation and
timber processing are some of the other opportunities that we are
exploring. |
