Logiventures, the Hayleys Group’s logistics services specialist, has provided Sampath Bank with a
custom-designed Convertainer solution, enabling the Bank to establish its branch at Nelliady in Jaffna in
double quick time.
In a little more than a month, Logiventures merged two 40-foot containers at its facility in Welisara, and
equipped the space with all the required utilities enabling the efficient functioning of the unit as a bank.
The completed, 640 square foot bank branch was delivered and installed at site in Nelliady.
“Fabricating a bank branch was naturally more complex than most other applications,” said Janitha
Jayanetti, General Manager of Logiventures (Pvt) Ltd. “In some instances we can deliver a fully
converted container in just seven days, and what can be done is only limited by a client’s imagination. It
is the ultimate in instant space solutions.”
Logiventures has custom designed, fabricated, decorated, equipped, furnished and delivered nearly
1000 Convertainers (or converted containers) since it ventured into this area of business, and reports
that 2009-10 was its best year for Convertainers to date.
Leveraging their key advantages of speed and cost, the company has catered to those who need
furnished and functional space in a hurry, enabling businesses to expand and projects to get underway
quickly and efficiently.
Used as individual units or as a combination of several units, these Convertainers can cater to virtually
unlimited requirements, Mr. Jayanetti said. Containers converted by Logiventures have been used in Sri
Lanka and overseas as site offices, accommodation units, medical facilities, multiple shower and toilet
units, dormitories, product display units, restaurants, and in one unique instance as a bunker for UNHCR
staff working in conflict areas.
All conversions, internal partitioning, insulation, cladding, furnishing, equipping, wiring and exterior
modification are carried out at the sprawling Logiventures container yard at Welisara. The company also
undertakes the transport and on-site assembly of the Convertainers at customer locations.
Logiventures Covertainers are now in use in many locations in Sri Lanka and in the Maldives, India,
Angola and Thailand. The company also fabricates and delivers collapsible units to areas that are
inaccessible by container transporters.
As a member of Hayleys Advantis, the logistics and transportation arm of the Hayleys Group,
