Hayleys
Consumer Products Limited (HCPL) has announced the appointment
of top notch marketing professional Trevor Reckerman as the
company s Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Reckerman will have overall executive responsibility for the
diverse range of products marketed and distributed in Sri Lanka
by Hayleys Consumer in sectors such as Consumer Durables, Photo
and Imaging, FMCG, Personal Care, Consumer Lighting, Home Care
and Food Products, the company said this week.
HCPL has been adding to its portfolio of prestigious
international brands in recent years, and Trevor brings to the
company more than 30 years of local and international experience
with global brands like Nestle and Mobil, Hayleys Ltd Director
Rizvi Zaheed said. We expect him to play a lead role in building
market share for HCPL in all our categories of business.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Reckerman said: I look
forward to using my skills and extensive experience in marketing
and general management to take Hayleys Consumer to a new
paradigm.
The company represents some exciting brands in vastly different
categories that cater to different market segments. Developing
and directing strategy for them is a challenge that I will
relish. An alumnus of the prestigious Institute of Management
Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, Mr. Reckerman was
the first Sri Lankan to be posted by the Nestle company as an
international expatriate. Over a 10 year period, he developed
strategy for and helped set up operations for Nestle in
Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, as a Nestle
Country Manager. His extensive training and representation for
Nestle has taken him to Switzerland, the UK and Australia among
several other developed Nestle operations.
On his return to the country in 2000, Mr. Reckerman, who is
widely credited with establishing Nestomalt as a flagship brand
for Nestle in Sri Lanka, joined the Exxon-Mobil affiliate
McLarens and took charge of the Mobil brand, which is today the
acknowledged value leader in the local lubricants market. In
recent years, he has also played a significant role as an
Executive Committee member of the Ceylon Motor Traders
Association (CMTA) in initiatives to regulate the Lube market
and create a level playing field for its participants.
Besides his professional achievements, Mr. Reckerman has also
been actively involved in the promotion and administration of
local sports, including athletics, football and motor racing.
Hayleys Consumer Products Limited is the sole representative in
Sri Lankan for several leading international brands, including
Philips, Fujifilm, Kenwood, P&G, Gillette, Titan, Westar and
Usha Lexus and also markets consumer electronic products under
its own brands Daytron and Xcella. In the nine months ending
December 31, 2006, business in the Hayleys Group s Consumer
Grouping contributed Rs 2.9 billion to Group turnover.
