Consumer Products Limited (HCPL) Sri Lanka's market leader in
digital mini labs for the photo imaging industry, has ventured
into the distribution of small portable digital photo printers
to cater to the growing retail segment in this sector. The
company has initially introduced two new digital photo printers
to cater to small businesses and individuals in the local
photography industry.
Representing sophisticated Japanese technology, these printers
offer users advanced photo printing capabilities and greater
convenience for smaller players, especially those supplying
instant prints.
The machines have been designed with a focus on mobility, and
are compact and lightweight enabling easy transportation and can
be used at outdoor functions where immediate prints are
required, the company said.
HCPL Director Jude Silva said that these machines which can make
high quality prints, are durable and are attractively priced.
"We have identified a high demand for these machines from
digital print labs across the country and are confident the
printers will be an instant success," he said.
One machine introduced is a digital photo printer with the
ability to print photos in ID sizes as well as make prints off a
digital camera or a computer.
The machine features an enhanced ID photo mode with 21 different
formats to print from and has a comprehensive menu with detailed
instructions. Up to 24 identity card photographs can be fitted
onto one postcard size sheet and the machine also can place two
or more photographs on the same sheet so that wastage is
eliminated.
The other printer is one of the lightest commercial printers
made and has the option of printing photos in 6" X 9" size, in
addition to the 3.5" X 5", 4" X 6" and 5" X 7" sizes. Postcard
size photographs can be printed in just 19 seconds, while the
3.5" X 5" size can be printed in 18 seconds. It can also be used
in hospitals for printing out scan and test results. It uses
advanced dye sublimation printing technology where a print of
300 dpi resolution is equal to a 4800 dpi resolution on an ink
jet printer.
The machines accept most memory cards including mobile phone
memory sticks, enabling easy transfer of photographs. The
machines use an ink ribbon which overcomes many drawbacks of ink
jet printers, such as drying up of ink and wastage of cartridges
as they need to be discarded even if one colour finishes.
These machines carry a one year warranty and can be purchased
from HCPL's head office or from sales representatives of the
company.
